New Orleans Carriage Ride and Tour Reviews

James, our carriage driver and knowledgeable guide, entertained us and educated us about the rich history of New Orleans, the French Quarter, and the many mysterious residents who still roam the streets and buildings of New Orleans. What a great evening experience!

Bravo to Royal Carriages for employing such a fantastic tour guide with a passion for the city of New Orleans. Very enjoyable and would highly recommend Royal Carriages for the hour long tour.

TripAdvisor Member: Gale & Cindy R., Wisconsin, USA

Hello Royal Carriages: Now that I am back in the office after completing all of our spring tours, I can properly thank Royal Carriages for the excellent experience you provided for our guests back on May. All of the drivers were knowledgeable, fun and safe. Great way to start off our tour, whether people had been to New Orleans many times before or this was their first time. Please pass on my thanks to the drivers for helping make our New Orleans Tour a success!

Byron Cain, Managing Director of Heritage Tours in Dallas, Texas

My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful Royal Carriage hour-long tour of French Quarter and St. Louis Cemetery with Mark and Cayenne. As a historian myself, I was happy to see Mark reaching out to the tourists with subjects like real estate and housing and teaching a lot of New Orleans history, including of its many ethnic communities and its slave history, full of enthusiasm and obvious love for his native city. He's what most of my historian colleagues wish to be, someone who can reach audiences and share his knowledge and enthusiasm for his subject. Bravo, Mark and Cayenne! Perfect birthday treat for my other half.

We had a good time on the History & Haunts Carriage Tour. It was a good way to see the nightlife, safely, without walking around. It's crazy how much history each building there has! The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and the mules were well taken care of. I liked that the tour guide mentioned the mule's schedule, for those who do care about animals.

TripAdvisor Member: South Dakota, USA

My husband and I went on the French Quarter and Marigny tour. We loved seeing everything at a slower pace so we could really take everything in and see it. This is a must-do while in the city.

TripAdvisor Member: Lori, Illinois, USA

You can tell that the mules at Royal Carriages are part of the team and treated with kindness and respect. Guests on the tour are invited to give the mule treats after the tour to let the mule know they did a good job.

TripAdvisor Member: Melissa, New York, USA

This is a fun tour for everyone. The adults love it because it's interesting and you get tidbits of history along the way. The kids love it because it's an adventure. They get to explore what's around every corner without having to walk at all. It's a much-needed break. The looks on the little faces were priceless. They carriage drivers know a lot about the city so if you have any questions make sure to ask them! They point out interesting places and tell interesting stories and facts along the way. And with all the walking you have been doing its an added bonus to sit down.

As a treat for our mom's birthday, we arranged for a Private Carriage Tour for 14. Both carriages were clean, comfortable and very well lead by our tour guides. The friendly guides tailored their tour messages to our family, which included small children, adding fun ghost stories as well as historical detail for the older generation. We absolutely loved every minute - highly recommended as a fun family outing. Thank you, Royal Carriages!

TripAdvisor Member: Teri L, Texas, USA

I loved it because we were in the action of the French Quarter but we were able to hear and get a great perspective from our seats in the carriage. It helped that our driver was personable and full of interesting stories.

TripAdvisor Member: Lynn, Wisconsin, USA

Anyone coming to New Orleans NEEDS to do this tour! We did the History and Haunts Tour and even though I thought I knew a lot about NOLA, I learned so much, those details they don't print in the history books. Our tour guide was SO knowledgeable and friendly, throwing in little-known tips and recommendations - you could tell he loves what he does, it really shows and it's infectious.

TripAdvisor Member: Jennifer J, USA

Every time we go to New Orleans, we have avoided the touristy carriage rides. My daughter begs to go on a carriage ride every time and we finally gave in during our last visit. The carriage ride takes you through the French Quarter while your carriage driver gives a little bit of history and points out architectural interests. We were all most interested in the history of the Great New Orleans Fire where the priests did not allow the church bells to be rung as fire alarms. The ride and the history lesson were both entertaining and just long enough.

Get out of the crowd and off your feet while taking in the French Quarter on a carriage ride. New Orleans offer many tours, but what sets the Royal Carriage tours apart is the small groups and the ability to relax while taking in the sights and history of the French Quarter. On the tour, you can cover a large area of the French Quarter, learn some of the interesting histories of the area, and get off of your feet and relax. The driver/guide is well-informed and with such a small group can answer individual questions. I especially enjoyed touring the French Quarter in a carriage by night. Lots of fun.

I took my 10-year-old history-loving son to New Orleans. We took a carriage ride through this company. Amazing! Best carriage ride we have ever had in New Orleans. The driver shared so much interesting New Orleans history and my son hung on every word. He asked her a million questions throughout the tour. The tour was interesting to me as well and I learned a lot about New Orleans history, I didn't know. At one point, when we passed Pat O'Brian's, one of the waiters threw Mardi Gras beads to my son, which he thought was so cool. He had read a Magic Tree House book about John Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop and told me he wanted to see it when we when went to New Orleans. We actually stopped in front of it on our carriage ride, and the driver talked about it being a meeting place for Andrew Jackson, his pirate buddies, and other infamous characters. But through those meetings, Jackson gathered his army and later won the Battle of New Orleans. My son was beyond excited about this story! Definitely worth the money! This teacher/mom highly recommends it for families interested in seeing New Orleans by carriage and wanting to expose their children to New Orleans history.

We loved this. Our driver, Jim Thiebaud, regaled us with historic tales of Napoleon, Joan of Arc, Andrew Jackson, Tennessee Williams, Lee Harvey Oswald, and, of course, Richard Simmons. Why is it that the locals always bring up Richard Simmons? We also heard about the Great Fire, the Second Great Fire, the Big Hurricane, the Next Big Hurricane, and the flood. Seems that God has done his best to take down this city, but the locals aren't having any of that. Such a relaxing/educating/romantic way to see the French Quarter.

TripAdvisor Member: Chznone

We hired the carriage to drive that Father of the Bride and the Bride to the wedding venue. What an arrival! The guest were all taking photos. It was a nice way for the two of them to chill before the big event. The driver took them on a nice little tour of NOLA before the wedding. It was worth every dime. Thanks, Royal Carriages.

TripAdvisor Member: Tina J. of Maryland, USA

Loved the two carriage tours. For the teens the 30 minutes was perfect. A great way to learn about the city. The evening haunted tour was especially interesting and fun. The kids loved it. Even our hotel was haunted. Will definitely take another tour next time we are in town. Very knowledgeable drivers. Also reasonable rates.

TripAdvisor Member: Susan Z

Our driver Mark, and donkey, Jockamo were wonderful tour guides! Mark has a great sense of humor and is very knowledgeable about New Orleans history and culture. We opted for the French Quarter and Cemetery Tour which lasted an hour. You cannot gain access to St. Louis Cemetery Number One without a guide so it was definitely worth the extra money.

TripAdvisor Member: Jess B

KJ and Dr. John were a mighty and dynamic duo. You can't do better than this for touring the French Quarter. KJ is an incredible narrator and gives excellent advice about things to do in NOLA. This carriage ride was easily the highlight of my adult life. I am forever changed.

TripAdvisor Member: Michael C

My family & I sought out Royal Carriages based on Trip Advisor ratings, and it was a very good choice. Our tour guide Talletha took us as a walk-up reservation late on a Sunday morning in June, and we were able to get our tour after a half-hour tour she was just starting. We booked the French Quarter plus St. Louis Cemetery #1 tour to extend our time, and we thoroughly enjoyed both parts of the tour. Our mule Queenie was well-behaved and she responded well to her driver throughout the tour. Talletha was very knowledgeable of New Orleans history and current events/attractions, and she was eager to field questions & made suggestions for us to follow after our carriage tour. She was especially entertaining during our cemetery stop. Overall, this was an excellent New Orleans tour & well worth the price. We would recommend Royal Carriages for anyone wanting to learn more about the city in a comfortable & relaxing way.

TripAdvisor Member: JMCSTL of Saint Louis, Missouri, USA

We had the pleasure of riding with Charlotte and of course Moon. Charlotte was informative, funny and capable of leading a mule and entertaining her guest. The rich history of New Orleans is fascinating, to begin with, but she added such great stories. I would definitely do it again. Thank you!

TripAdvisor Member: Ruby Jo of Seattle, Washington, USA

Mark and Jockamo provided a fun and educational experience. Mark pointed out lots of little details in the architecture that I never even noticed before. He was also very lively and entertaining. I was grateful to learn how to correctly pronounce many words so I could sound like a local instead of a tourist. Mark also provided a lot of good tips on things to see and do around town. Thanks Mark!!

TripAdvisor Member: Jamie S

We've had carriage rides in Savannah and Charlestown but neither compares to the tour given to us by Matt and Footloose. Matt talked the entire hour providing us the history of the city, along with dining and entertainment tips.

TripAdvisor Member: Leon A of Millbrook, Alabama, USA

This is a treat from the booking to the touring. If you would like to know more about New Orleans, then I encourage you to take a tour. We took an hour night tour and it was Fantastic!! Our tour guide was full of history! I wished the ride went on a little longer because I wanted to know and see more. This is a must when visiting!! Thank you Royal Carriages for making our 30 Wedding Anniversary memorable!

TripAdvisor Member: Bonnie McKeithen

Our guide KJ was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and made the tour fun! Our driver, Dr.John, seemed to have a pretty good handle on the area and where to go! Will definitely book Royal Carriages again for future trips. It lets you see areas of the Quarter and surrounding areas you might not venture to unless on one of these tours.

TripAdvisor Member: Stephanie A

Took our second carriage ride today and did it with Blanche. We should have taken our first with her! She was really friendly and really informative. Took the cemetery tour with her. We had a great time! Even gave us tips where to go later and when we come again. She's the best!! Thanks for everything!

TripAdvisor Member: Wesley B

A very enjoyable ride! Mules are very well trained/relaxed. We even pet ours after the ride. I was amazed at how strong these animals are. They are treated very well by the company. As for the tour, our guide was very informative and enjoyable. We took the one hour tour that goes to the graveyard. You won't want to miss this! Very good information on why and how New Orleans buried their dead above ground as well as some very cool mausoleums. If you like history at all, this is for you.

TripAdvisor Member: Jessica H of Alexandria, Louisiana

We had a private carriage ride with Jason and Professor LongHair. It was absolutely worth it. We went on a walking tour the night before, and there were obnoxious folks on it that had to be the center of attention that marred the tour. This is exactly why I booked a private carriage ride for an hour. I wanted to hear some history of the city in an environment that I could ask questions and was tailored to my interests. I'm a history buff, which is why I was being persnickety. Jason was great. He had jokes for my husband and entertained him while educating me, which was the perfect combination. He also explained how the Professor LongHair is treated in the off hours and how he (the mule) gets months long sabbaticals every year. It was a wonderful experience and I'd definitely do it again in a heartbeat.

TripAdvisor Member: Traveler46077

This is my first Trip Advisor review. I had to make sure Peaches gets an apple! My husband, mother in law, and I stumbled upon Royal Carriages on our trip to New Orleans a couple weeks ago and Jonathan greeted us right away and answered our questions about what the ride would entail. We were sold right away and took the hour tour. Jonathan was super knowledgeable and friendly and answered all of our questions. I am still telling people about some of the historical facts we learned on our ride and walk through the cemetery. I wanted to do it all again but we were there for a short time and couldn't fit it in. I would highly recommend taking this tour and even told our uber driver (a local) about it. We will see you next time!

TripAdvisor Member: Mich Nuss of Brooklyn, New York

Frank was a great guide and his mule Patsy was awesome! He did a great job on the ghost tour, he mixed in a lot of history and told us about the legends but it didn't feel cheesy at all. Loved it. He also gave us the choice of a bar stop or no (our group chose no so we could hear more stories). Would highly recommend!

TripAdvisor Member: J6542NKelizabeth

I highly recommend this carriage ride, especially if it's your first visit to New Orleans. It gives you a little understanding of the city, how it is laid out and a little history along the way. Especially enjoyed going through the cemetery and learning about the traditions of this area, so different from the way I grew up. Our guide, Talletha, was so much fun and knowledgeable about the area and Red, who pulled us through the city, was amazing. Definitely, check this attraction out.

TripAdvisor Member: Sonya M

This was the BEST GHOST TOUR ever! Fiona is articulate, well-informed, enthusiastic and energetic! She was very charming and held your attention. The only thing more energetic than Fiona was her amazing and well-trained mule Chicory! Never have I seen a smarter mule! She knew how to navigate amongst all the people, cars and distractions that abound in the French Quarter. She followed every instruction to the letter - meaning she understood English and would without much effort on Fiona's part go exactly where she was told. We were very entertained and give this lovely lady and her beautiful mule 5 stars!

TripAdvisor Member Adrienne B of Dallas, Texas

Had a great time with Mark and Jockamo touring the French Quarter. Lots to see and learn from Mark's multi-generational local knowledge. You'll get the full scoop on all the nooks and crannies, history and architecture. We skipped the cemetery and concentrated on the living history. We did do a short walk through a cemetery after brunch at the Commander's so felt like we had that covered. Mark was very enjoyable and fun to have as our guide. Highly recommended.

TripAdvisor Member: GYHTBT of Silicon Valley, California

Came to New Orleans with 11 ladies for a Bachlorette Party. When I contacted Royal Carriages they knew exactly what to recommend for us. The tour was fun and the guides were super knowledgeable about the city. Starting off at the stables was a nice touch since we got to see the mules before heading out. Would highly recommend using Royal Carriages to explore New Orleans!

TripAdvisor Member: Tia W. of Summerville, SC

I am a local and had friends in from Arizona. In our climate walking in the Quarter in the heat of summer can be difficult. Their time here was limited so I decided to book the private 1-hour carriage ride. Very good choice! So glad we did. Our guide Thiebaud was knowledgeable and funny. We also chatted with another driver while waiting to be picked up. She was very helpful and you could tell she really loved her mule. The mules are cleaned and well cared for. They give them snacks, water, and breaks. Our mule was Blue and he liked carrots. I am a New Orleanean and I learned a few things and was reminded of some I forgot! We did the Quarter and The area around Frenchmen Street. Afterward, we ate lunch at Antoine's. It was a wonderful day I won't soon forget! A splurge but well worth every penny. Thanks, guys!

TripAdvisor Member: Nancy D. of Gretna, Louisiana, USA

We had a great private mule carriage ride through the French Quarter and the Cemetery. Our guide Michelle was great. We learned a lot about the history of New Orleans. If we ever have the opportunity to return we will definitely take another tour with Royal Carriages.

TripAdvisor Member: Patti L. of Montara, CA, USA

Everyone at Royal Carriages really went out of their way to make our experience the best possible. When the Halloween festivities threatened our chosen date, Sherman promptly contacted us and made our rescheduled time an even better experience! Our driver Emily was absolutely wonderful, taking the cues from us when we wanted more information and when we just wanted to stare into one another's eyes. Seriously, these folks could not have made this experience any better!! How often can you say that?

TripAdvisor Member: My3Sons2800 from Phoenix, Arizona

The carriage tour was one of our highlights!! We had a great time seeing the French Quarter as well as the cemetery. Royal Carriages is the real deal. I would also like to say thank you to them for recognizing our military members with a discounted rate!! Our guide was a riot and she really kept us entertained as well as educated. Thanks again!

TripAdvisor Member: blueply67 of Elizabethton, Tennessee, USA

Fabulous night...cool air and the gentle clip-clop of our trust worthy donkey as we listened to the stories, historical and infamous, that depict this colorful community. Well done!!

TripAdvisor Member: Annemarie O of Cameron Park, USA

This was the second time we took this carriage ride which also includes a tour of the Catholic Cemetery just outside the Quarter. This tour was dramatically more informative and interesting because Mark was hilarious, and this time we were more sober. We recommend you hunt down Mark and have him be your driver. He has lots of stories, and even has a bibliography that covers the books that he used for references, Thanks again Mark for a great tour!

TripAdvisor Member: DrGrant Felton of California, USA

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Kim and her beautiful mule "Sugar" on our visit to New Orleans. My husband and I passed these beautiful carriages several times and debated about the cost of taking such a tour. My husband surprised me and we took a half hour tour around the French Quarter that was MORE than a valuable and fun experience! We thought it would be just a ride around the French Quarter, but we were guided by houses with a rich history and we learned SO MUCH about the history of the French Quarter. Don't pass up this opportunity to get the best views of the French Quarter!

TripAdvisor Member: PEJ4 of Anoka, Minnesota

Had a great tour around the quarter, passing various historical ghostly places, with lots of good stories by our driver, Rich. He was great, very informative and congenial, with a great sense of humor. We even changed the time of our ride earlier that day, and Royal Carriages was more than happy to accommodate our request. A little chilly that night, bur plenty of blankets to keep warm. Highly recommend Royal Carriages for any tour that they do.

TripAdvisor Member: Janice G

We had a fantastic carriage ride through the French Quarter with Emily and Cloudy! Emily shared historical information about the area in a fun and engaging manner. The trip takes you off the famous Bourbon Street and you learn about the other parts of the quarter. I highly recommend this excursion.

TripAdvisor Member: Gaylene D of Topeka, Kansas, USA

The tour was fun and informative. Mike and Footloose were fantastic and gave us great historical and current information about the city. We especially enjoyed the cemetery tour. We loved it and the fact that our mule, Footloose, was featured on NCIS New Orleans was a cool bonus.

TripAdvisor Member: Joe S

Charlotte Did an amazing job. Very knowledgeable and funny. All the Mules are done up looking so great and my girlfriend and I had an amazing time. A definite must do for first timers or people just wanting to know more about the city.

TripAdvisor Member: Jon R

Jonathan and Queenie made for a memorable and educational ride through the French Quarter with a stop at their stables where we got to see more mules and their habitat. Jonathan is super knowledgeable and very funny. He let us pet Queenie and told us what she did and did not like. We will recommend all our friends to Jonathan and whatever mule he has that day!

TripAdvisor Member: Chris from Miami, FL, USA

Sue and Princess Fiona (the mule) were fantastic! Sue is friendly, funny and knows just about anything you want to know about the history of the French Quarter (and probably much more!) Fiona is beautiful and loves to trot, but only when Sue approves. Thanks for a great afternoon!

TripAdvisor Member: awvines of Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Mark was our guide and sweet Elizabeth was our mule the tour was so informative, interesting and fun! I've lived here for 4 years and people that come visit me want to go on tours, so I've gone on quite a few and i must say Mark was far and above better than any other tour guides I've encountered while living in New Orleans! I even got to feed Elizabeth a carrot after the trip which for me was the cherry on top.

TripAdvisor Member: Alana N of New Orleans, LA, USA

We had an amazing time guided by Sandy (the mule) and Moose! We learned so much about the French Quarter and it was great to sit back, relax and take in the sights. Moose was very knowledgeable about the history of the city and was quite engaging. Sandy did an amazing job amongst all the traffic. Highly recommend!

Rick took us on a History and Haunts tour on October 30th as part of our wedding trip. We had a fantastic time, and Rick told us some really great stories about the town. He is really knowledgeable, personable, and funny. Such a great host. He even paid attention to the fact that we had a teen with us and made her feel welcome, too. We had a fantastic time, and wish the tour had been longer!

TripAdvisor: Michelle M of Grafton, MA, United States

You can learn so much more and enhance your experience so much by spending an hour or so with one of the local carriage drivers! The personality of our driver was great! He was able to share insight to the background of various New Orleans historical sights and events beyond what we would have expected. Overall, a great experience and HIGHLY recommended!

TripAdvisor Member: Robb B

We had a great tour guide! Very educational and friendly guides. Really enjoyed the mules. They were well behaved.

TripAdvisor Member: June S of Wichita Falls, Texas, USA

My husband and I took a 1/2 hour tour of the French Quarter during the day with Jonathan and his mule Queenie - Jonathan was very knowledgeable and funny and Queenie did an excellent job of navigating the narrow streets of the French Quarter. We did a group tour with 2 other couples who we did not know, but that made it even more interesting and fun. It was great to learn a little more about the interesting history and architecture of New Orleans and a fun way to see more of the city than we could have seen on foot. We booked our tour through Royal Carriages sales manager, Kimmie, who could not have been nicer or more kind and accommodating! Thank you all so much for a great experience! New Orleans, in general, is a really fun town with super friendly people who just want to make sure you have a good time! We'll be back!

TripAdvisor Member: Siobhan J of Commerce Township, Michigan, USA

Really enjoyed our tour guide Mark and his beautiful carriage and sweet mule Elizabeth!! Been to NOLA before but actually learned even more interesting facts about this awesome city from Mark! The cemetery tour was so interesting and the facts about history around town were really informative! Thanks Mark Keep up the great tours and hope to take a ride with you again when we come to town! Thanks for taking a pic of us also so we never forget the great tour we took with you!

Jonathan was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable of the history of the New Orleans area as well as other factoids of the buildings and streets. Queenie the mule pulled our carriage, she was pleasant, calm and responded to all of Jonathan's commands. We had a great time!

TripAdvisor Member: David G of Owings, Maryland, USA

Although we've been to Nola many times we've never taken a carriage ride through the Quarter and we loved it! Our tour guide Matt was friendly, informative and took us on a terribly interesting haunted carriage ride on a cool December evening the last day of our trip. Perfect way to discover all the grisly tidbits of history the Quarter has tucked away in all its dark corners. Thank you Royal Carriages!

TripAdvisor Member: Heather C of Cleveland, Ohio, USA

Mark and his sweet horse, Elizabeth treated us to a close-up and very informative tour of the French Quarter, including the oldest cemetery in New Orleans. We saw, in an open carriage which allowed for a full view, the grandest and most interesting sights of the French Quarter, learning interesting history and facts of the area as we rode through the streets. Mark gave us a very interesting tour of the oldest cemetery, adding interesting and curious stories about some of the famous people who are interred there and how the cemetery is run. His added humor made this a very fun tour! This was one of the highlights of our visit to New Orleans

TripAdvisor Member: Paulette A of Bloomfield, New York, USA

I had no clue how rich the history of New Orleans was, this was our first visit, and we couldn't have had better guides. James is friendly and a true historian. He took his time, answered any questions and took the time to get to know us. Pearl is amazing, beautiful and patient. She was able to navigate the entire tour at our pace. The ride was smooth and a lot of fun. I highly recommend Royal Carriages, and ask for James and Pearl. Best tour guides, they make the trip extra special.

TripAdvisor Member: deshorten of Holly, Michigan, USA

This was such an awesome experience that we took 2 tours in 12 hrs! The 1st we did at night. Our guide was phenomenal. He spoke like a pirate and was very knowledgeable. His mule, Boudreau, took us through the French quarter. The 2nd tour we did we had Jonathan as our guide along with Queenie as our mule. We paid extra to go to the garden district and we were not disappointed. I actually fact checked Jonathan while on tour and I'm pleased to report he knows what he's talking about lol Thank you so much Jonathan. I hope Queenie gets an apple for this review because you both rock!

Facebook: Dinah Hamilton of Kirkland, Washington, USA

Amazing tour - Thank you Michelle and Bojax! We only had a day in the city and taking this tour was so worth it!. We paid for an hour long tour and go so much more. Our guide took us around the french quarter, into the cemetery which you need a licensed tour guide to take you. She gave us so much information and history of the city. It was amazing!

Facebook: Brittany Moore of Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Michelle and BoJo were the best! Can't wait to book our next ride. The private carriage ride is well worth the money. Michelle gave us a great history lesson and was entertaining as well. Oh, and she answered all of our questions as they came up. She also slowed down in areas of interest so we could take pictures. Also, don't forget to tip your guides! These guides are patient and professional. They deserve your gratitude.

Can't rave about this enough. I went on the History & Haunts tour last night. Our guide/terror tale teller, Ben Speight, was great you could tell that he enjoyed what he does and in turn that helped us enjoy it even more. He was a wealth of historic and rumored knowledge. I wish him luck in his upcoming nuptials . But seriously go do a carriage tour best tour by far for the money.

Facebook: John King of West Haven, Connecticut, USA

Our driver James was really informative and was great about telling the history of New Orleans. James was really great with Pearl the beautiful white mule who was obviously well cared for. As a horse person, I was initially cautious because of the stories you hear about abuse, but Pearl and the other Royal Carriages mules were well cared for. James and Pearl are tremendous assets and I really hope this company recognizes what gems these two are.

Great tour out and around the central French Quarter. Our host was very detailed and knew many notable facts that I had thought were urban legends. She was also very polite and helpful with extra places of interest and places to eat.

We got a very unique tour my request to experience parts of the French quarter that might not necessarily be on the traditional tour and was well worth the money.

I won't lie I did not want to do this but my wife always knows better in these situations and convinced me to do it. Our driver was Mike, from New England, and his mule was Footloose (great name). We took a half hour trot around the French Quarter. Mike gave us a ton of history about the various portions and took whatever questions we had. It was admittedly fun to see the city in such a way. We enjoyed ourselves and I honestly did not want it to end. It is worth it.

TripAdvisor Member: Scott of West Palm Beach, Florida, USA

James was a great tour guide!! He and his mule, Slim did a wonderful job explaining the homes and people that lived in them over the course of New Orleans history! He was great with my kids and kind to his mule!

TripAdvisor Member: Momzateacher of Houston, Texas, USA

What a great time we had with Michelle and her immaculately-kept mule, Desire, on our private tour! We have previously taken a group carriage tour and wanted to give our friends (NOLA 1st timers) the same great experience. Turns out every tour and guide is a little different and we learned a ton. So even if you have done a tour before, do it again! It will be just as fun and fascinating thanks to guides like Michelle, who attend lectures and research local history and, consequently, have a boatload of great information to share.

We went on the one hour tour with Mark, tour guide, and Elizabeth, mule pulling the carriage. Mark was very knowledgeable about New Orleans' history and is very funny! He took us to St Louis Cemetery #1 as well. Great tour, good time and well worth the booking.

We had the most marvelous time with Blanche and Marie Laveau. The information that Blanche provided was amazing. She handled the entire group with courtesy and professionalism. We could not have asked for a better way to spend our Christmas Eve morning. Would highly recommend to everyone that you take one of these tours.

My wife and I came to New Orleans on our honeymoon. It was her first visit, and she only had a couple requests - including a ghost tour. Nate our driver, and Dooky Chase our mule, were both fantastic. We had a fun ride around the French Quarter and learned a lot of gruesome murder and ghost history. Thanks, y'all!

We live in Lafayette, and we've been to the FQ many times, but we've never done a tour until now. Mark Orfila was our guide, and not only was he extremely knowledgeable, but funny, as well. He made learning NOLA's history fun and interesting!

This tour exceeded our expectations! We went on the Haunted Tour and our guide (Nate) was awesome!!!

I have lived in the area since 1969 and this was my first tour. I had both my husband and 16 year old niece from Texas with me. The tour was amazing and our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. The mule was just as sweet as could be. Will definitely do again. Thank you for such an amazing experience.

Our group of 5 all really enjoyed this 1 hr tour of the French Quarter and St Louis Cemetery # 1. We had Charlotte as our tour guide and Praline was her mule. They both did a great job! We learned a lot more than we thought we would in 1 hr. It was very cold and rainy the day we went on our tour, we arrived early and Charlotte directed us to a nice coffee shop to help warm us up and she had large blankets on the carriage. This is really a great tour!

This was my grandson 1st time and Nat made it very interesting for him. It was really cold and he still took his time to tell good stories. Great job!!

Jonathan and Queenie were the perfect pair. Jonathan was very knowledgeable and knew intricate details that you would never know by just exploring the city on your own. Queenie was sweet and the best your guide for the city. Highly recommend them both.

We spent a wonderful hour in the company of Kim & the lovely Stanley. We paid $40 per person for a historical and cemetery tour of the St Louis Cemetery. Kim was very knowledgeable about the area and we really enjoyed our tour. So glad we did this as we nearly didn't bother after asking ourselves, do we really want to spend 30 mins of our holiday walking around a cemetery? However it turned out to be really interesting and something we will always remember about New Orleans.

KJ was very knowledgeable about the French Quarter's history and his stories about its departed residents were very entertaining. Pretty Boy, the carriage mule, kept us moving at a leisurely pace, which gave us time to see the places KJ was telling us about.

Jonathan, with his mule Elizabeth, provided the six of us with a really fun experience. He has a really jovial but laid-back personality and great sense of humor - had us all laughing. We all talked about it with our friends who weren't with us how much fun he was. The next day he was doing a cemetery tour when he saw and acknowledge us with enthusiasm and we overheard him tell his tour group that he had fun with us the previous day. New Orleans and Royal Carriages are fortunate to have him.

I booked this tour for my mom and dad (the haunted evening tour) because of all the great reviews! My parents are picky but they had nothing but great things to say about their tour. They said their driver/guide was friendly, knowledgeable and gave them some inside stories about the hotel they were staying in, and that personal touch made them feel special! Looking forward to booking my own tour when I visit NOLA again.
